appy Nowruz, neighbors! That’s Persian New Years! While technically not until March 20 this year, Nowruz also happens to coincide with the first day of spring so is the perfect time to gather and grill in the chilly weather knowing warmer days are soon to come. m I the only one that gets a little teary-eyed at a number of Macklemore songs? His songs are just so inspirational and relatable…. Growing Up, Glorious, Same Love. I swear they could overlay any of these songs on a Lifetime movie or Olympic commercial and I would be a mess. (Update: they did, and I was.) ust in time for your holiday baking weekend, I wanted to share a recipe for one of my favorite old-timey baked goods, iced oatmeal cookies. What kid doesn’t remember eating those iced Mother’s cookies straight from your lunchbox, or maybe it was a special treat when you went over to your grandma’s house. Either way, these cookies have a way of invoking nostalgia that will bring you all the warm fuzzies as you wrap (or to try rush Amazon Prime shipping) on those final gifts. id you know that I am going to be a godmother? And soon! My dearest and best friend and her husband are having their first child in early October. I’m taking this role very seriously. I asked if I could bring my wand to godmother class, but I guess this is frowned upon.
But seriously, how amazing it is to have your best friend literally ask you to become a part of their family. They must like me. Or maybe it’s the wand. In either case, I could not be more honored.
Their recent baby shower got me thinking about my favorite children’s book. Did anyone ever read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie? Continue reading “Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies”
fter a bit of a hiatus, I’m back in the kitchen! It has been a crazy few months. Let me fill you in. I have a brand new job as an account manager at a marketing company and have been learning a lot about horses, Wiffle ball, and tour operators in the process. And oh ya, I have a gluten allergy. When and how this happened I don’t know, but I am embracing it and taking it as an opportunity to test out some gluten-free goods, including these gluten-free mudslide cookies.
Yelp must know of my recently discovered gluten allergy based on the number of searches I have done for nearby gluten-free pizza in the last month. Omission Pale Ale and IPA have made being a gluten intolerant beer lover possible. Thank you.

wo days and counting! No… presents are still not wrapped, but they are on my list and I have checked it twice.
So many holiday memories have been made in the last week. My snow trip was unforgettably magical, and I attended my first Lithuanian Nut Bread making party with four generations of women on my boyfriend’s side. Also pretty magical. And messy.
I made sure to cross all of the must-do snow activities off of my list while in Tahoe. We built a snowman, made snow angels, had a snowball fight, drank hot chocolate, went tubing down the bunny slopes, and watched a Christmas movie of course. My extremely patient boyfriend also spent the day teaching me how to snowboard. Continue reading “Santa’s Choice Chocolate Crinkle Cookies”
have been quite a busy elf over the last few weeks. I traversed the California coast a few times. South to see the boyfriend and interview for a job and north to batten down the hatches of a sailboat and visit with family. I braved the snow for the first time up at the beautiful Lake Tahoe (photos to come) and bailed out our flooded family room… twice.
